Honey bees in Ontario are dying in record numbers and the provincial government says a class of pesticides known as neonicotinoids is partly to blame. In an effort to reduce bee losses, the Ontario government is about to bring in a partial ban that will reduce neonic usage by 80%. But industry groups say bees in Ontario are healthy and a ban would threaten farmers’ ability to give Ontarians local-grown food.
